Quantum physics and information processing
Quantum physics provides a framework for understanding how nature operates at microscopic levels. In the quantum world, a superposed state of two distinct quantum states — "quantum bit" — is physically allowed. By using such a quantum bit for information processing, instead of a classical bit only taking either 0 or 1, one can achieve counterintuitive results, which cannot be obtained in the classical world. In this seminar, I will provide an introduction to quantum physics and its application for information processing. Then, I will briefly mention fault-tolerant quantum computing, which is one of the main subjects of my research.
