Summary
All organisms are continuously exposed to a wide variety of cellular stresses; therefore, it is fundamental to sense stresses and induce defense programs for the survival. My research interests are focused on understanding how the body senses and responds to cellular stresses, including oxidative, hypoxic, and acidic stress. In this talk, I will introduce ion channels that I have identified as oxidative and hypoxic sensors and will discuss the significance of theses channels in terms of sensory biology, cancer biology, and evolutionary biology.
