Research Interests: Climate Dynamics
Research Topic: Climate Change caused by synergetic effects of global warming and natural variability
When Hiroki was deciding on an area of research in his undergraduate days in 1997/98, he heard a lot of news about El Nino, the biggest phenomenon in the twentieth century to cause extreme weather events around the world. Such news motivated him to study meteorology and climatology because weather and climate are closely linked to our life. His area of expertise is climate dynamics, and especially he has a strong interest in the roles of ocean-atmosphere interaction in climate variability and change. In the Hakubi project, he will study synergetic effects of global warming and natural climate variability, using various ocean atmospheric observations and climate model simulations.
