Research Interests: Quantum Information Science
Research Topic: Quantum Fault-tolerant Theory for Scalable Quantum Information Processing
Since childhood, Keisuke has been interested in creating new things with drawings, crafting, and LEGO. He initially dreamed of becoming an engineer, but gradually the size of the subjects he was interested in became smaller and smaller. Upon entering university, his interest turned toward micromachines. Later, he became fascinated by quantum physics, where ordinary perceptions are no longer of use, and started doing research on it. In the quantum world, it is impossible to observe a subject without disrupting it, and therefore it is even hard to image what it actually is. Such a mysterious world, however, can provide ways to develop novel technologies, such as quantum teleportation and quantum computers, which largely exceed our common sense. Research on the building of quantum computers has just started, and there are still many problems to be solved. Keisuke plans to develop a step-by-step theory for building quantum computers, exactly like he used to do as a child when playing with LEGO.
