We have been recruiting about 20 exceptional early-career researchers annually as program-specific faculty members at Kyoto University. With the aim of fostering individuals who will play active roles as world-class researchers and lead the next generation of academia at Kyoto University, we are promoting initiatives to develop visionary researchers.
The call for Hakubi researchers is open to all fields from basic to applied, all nationalities and all ages.
A doctoral degree, or its equivalent is required.

(Application and screening process)
As the first stage of the screening process, a document screening is conducted by the Expert Committee. On the second phase, those who are successful at the document screening are interviewed in Japanese or English by the Hakuraku Council. Candidates are selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of their qualifications, not only their research capabilities but also their potential as next-generation leaders. Successful candidates at the interview are then finally screened by the center’s Steering Committee.
