Astromineralogy from laboratories: What does stardust tell us?
Recent developments of infrared spectroscopy revealed the ubiquitous existence of terrestrial minerals in the universe. These minerals in space are typically submicron in size and called “cosmic dust” or “stardust”. Presolar stardust grains are rarely identified in the primitive meteorites, which have formed prior to the birth of the solar system. In this seminar, I will talk about experimental studies of mineral formation processes under circumstellar conditions and mineralogical studies on stardust using telescopes and microscopes. I would like to show what stardust tells us about the stardust formation around stars and the history of the pre-solar system.
