Summary
Light has wave properties such as color (wavelength), intensity (amplitude) and the direction of oscillation (polarization). Recently, laser beams with a specific beam pattern and polarization distribution have attracted much attention due to their distinctive focusing/ propagating properties and their potential to lead further development of various advanced technological fields such as optical data storage, lithography and laser microscopy. In this seminar, I will introduce the focusing properties of spatial tailored laser beams and discuss how to design photonic-crystal lasers for generating such beams.
