Summary

As can be seen in extensive media coverage, robotic technologies have developed rapidly in recent years. In this seminar, we invite Dr. Kojiro Matsushita, an active young robotics researcher) to give a talk about Brain Machine Interface (BMI) and robot education. Dr. Matsushita has held trial lectures for elementary school students to raise their interests in robotics. In these lectures, students made robots with plastic bottles and experimented with myoelectic control of robots. Dr. Matsushita will discuss these experiences in this seminar. After that, I (Nishide) will give a presentation on Cognitive Developmental Robotics. This is a rather new field that has attracted attention only recently. In my project, we aim to create a robot with human-like cognition/behavior mechanisms. The talk will be about recent studies on robotics relating them with developmental process of human infants.
