Summary

According to Japanese statistics in 2018, about 20,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in Japan every week, or about 1 million people a year. If you live in Japan and lead an everyday life, the probability of being diagnosed with cancer in your lifetime is currently over 50% (65% for men, 50% for women). Being diagnosed with cancer in the future is not something you see in a novel or a movie, but it is a reality that is already in your daily life. In this seminar, I want to talk about a broad overview of cancer treatment, and introduce the latest technological advances in radiotherapy. In addition, I would like to discuss the future of cancer treatment with you all, touching on my current research project on boron neutron capture therapy.
