Summary
We take for granted our ability to perform simple daily activities such as reaching for a cup of coffee or picking up a pen from a desk. However, even these “simple” movements require “complex” computations of various kinds of information on the body and the world around us. We would appreciate these hidden processes once they malfunctioned in clinical situations, such like strokes and spinal cord injuries. In this seminar, I will present recent findings on the neural mechanisms for skilled body movements and discuss how our central nervous system manages a flood of information to generate appropriate body movements.
