Summary

Paleontology is a study of extinct organisms. Marine invertebrates (i.e., organismswithouta backbone) are considered particularly useful because of their rich fossil record. I will (1) address general misconceptions andprovideanoverview about paleontology, (2) introduce someof myresearch topics in invertebrate paleontology with a focus on cephalopods (ammonites, nautilus, octopuses, squids). You may get motivated to go collect fossils with me after my talk.
