Summary
What was the Sun like 4 billion years ago? The ancient Sun likely had a profound impact on early Earth’s environment for the origin of life through its intense radiations and particles. However, reconstructing the ancient Sun over 4 billion years ago is challenging. This seminar will outline an approach to understanding how the ancient Sun influenced planetary environments by observing Sun-like stars through “astronomy.” Our previous studies have revealed that the ancient Sun frequently experienced massive plasma ejections, which likely had significant effects on the chemical evolution of young planetary atmospheres. Building on these findings, the seminar will also introduce future plans to further unravel the long history of the Sun and Earth’s environment.
