Study of the Emission Mechanism of Pulsars With Very High Energy Gamma-rays

Takayuki liked science since he was a child and dreamed of becoming a scientist in the future. However, he did not have a special interest in astronomy or astrophysics. At university, he was impressed to learn that the laws of physics can explain various kinds of phenomena in the far universe and decided to be an astrophysicist. Currently, he is especially interested in a type of astronomical objects called “pulsars”. Although their radius is as small as 10 km, they rotate rapidly in an extremely high magnetic field. Precisely periodic pulses of electromagnet ic radiat ion can be observed, but the emission mechanism is not fully understood. Takayuki plans to investigate the mechanism by observing pulsars with very high energy gamma-rays.
