    Deciphering the “Ubiquitin codes”

Minsoo is studying on the small protein called “Ubiquitin” since she came to Japan. Ubiquitin is covalently attached to the substrate protein. This protein post translational modification called “ubiquitination”. Ubiquitination regulates various cellular processes and contribute to disease development. For a long time, people thought the ubiquitin system is conserved only in eukaryote. However recent discoveries show that many pathogenic bacteria uses ubiquitin system for their own benefit. In this Hakubi project, I will elucidate the physiological significance of ubiquitin system during pathogenic bacterial infection.
